Some common foods are poisonous for dogs

We often discuss during our examinations what owners can give to their dogs safely and what is causing harm. Veterinarians in Markham see many pets who are ill, because they ingested foods that are harmful. The symptoms include: vomiting, diarrhea, inappetence, lethargy, but could also just show elevated liver values on blood tests, urine problems, or a pet that is just “off”.

Many dogs are being fed snacks that are healthy and safe for people, but not for canines. Remember, dogs are genetically quite different from humans and may not tolerate what we eat.
