Laser surgery in veterinary medicine has benefits… but most of the time, these benefits are overrepresented.
In the past two blogs, Dr. Marsig, a veterinarian in Markham discussed the merits of veterinary laser surgery in Markham.
Here are some photos of surgeries done at the Animal Hospital of Unionville without the use of a veterinary laser.
Result: Using a laser for standard skin incisions does not make a noticeable difference:
Skin suture after 14 days. This cat had orthopedic surgery and the skin was incised using a scalpel, not a laser. This wound is healed perfectly and the sutures are ready to be removed.
Have a look at this cat’s declaw incisions:
This cat had declaw surgery 13 days earlier. The paws are healed perfectly. This was done without laser.
